Asian Congress on Biotechnology (ACB) 2013

-     Bioprocessing for Sustainable Development

New Delhi, India

Dec 15-19, 2013

Asian Congress on Biotechnology (ACB) is organized biennially under the aegis of Asian Federation of Biotechnolgy in one of the Asian countries. The Asian Federation of Biotechnolgy (AFOB) (www.afob.org) was set up in 2008 after a series of meetings with representatives from about 15 Asian countries, when it was decided to establish its main office at Incheon, Korea. ACB itself is a continuation of earlier well-known Asia Pacific Biochemical Engineering Conference (APBioChEC), which was held nine times during 1980 to 2009. ACB, however, has a broader mandate as it encompasses not only biochemical engineering, but also several emerging areas of biotechnology, which are going to play an important role in development and commercialization of several technologies which will be beneficial for the well-being of humankind. The development of bio-based technologies, by virtue of their being mild-energy intensive in nature and based on renewable feedstock, will pave the way for large usage of sustainable technologies in various sectors of economy such as renewable energy, food, agriculture, health-care, biodegradable polymers, biofertilizers, biopesticides, biopharmaceuticals, commodity and fine chemicals etc. Accordingly, the first ACB under the aegis of AFOB was held at Shanghai, China during May 11-15, 2011. The purpose of this Asian Congress on Biotechnology (ACB2013) is to bring together leading professionals from academia, industry and government to discuss scientific and strategic advances resulting in global sustainability and to foster collaborations.

The Congress will be open to professionals from all over the world. It is, therefore, expected that Asian participants will be able to meet and discuss their scientific agenda with international colleagues. We strongly believe that their attendance at the Congress will boost their interest in their area of specialization and its related fields, but at the same time their contribution will benefit other participants. Further, their overall experience would be broadened and deepened, which would significantly enhance the advancement of biotechnology. Besides technical sessions, the Congress will also provide an unique opportunity for industrial collaborations and human resource identification. In addition, it will promote R&D collaborations between academic institutions and placement opportunities for Indian students. The Indian participants would be especially privileged to get an exposure of many latest advancements in biotechnology through several plenary, key-note and invited lectures by eminent biotechnologists. The Congress will also have poster sessions displaying latest scientific findings of reputed labs of Asia and an exhibition on latest equipment, publications etc. In addition, a special scientific session for young scientists will also be planned where young researchers (Ph D scholars and post-docs) can present their results.

The Organizing Committee of ACB 2013 welcomes your participation in this largest Asian scientific congress on biotechnology.
