Dear AFOB members,
I am pleased to share good news from my research group. The idea of shortening manufacturing process on recombinant proteins such as antibody therapeutics using a cell-free protein synthesis (CFPS) platform won the grand prize at the Korea Biopharmaceuticals Awards on November 11, 2021. The CFPS technology can speed up the development of new biologics by dramatically shortening the time spent in the process of cell culture and cell line development. Furthermore, this manufacturing platform is designed to work with chemically defined reaction buffer, which would greatly reducing time and efforts required in the downstream purification processes. When applied to new antibody drug discovery, for example, it is possible to simultaneously produce dozens of candidate drugs with a single synthesis experiment, thereby accelerating drug discovery and characterization processes.
